An agent with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement was wounded in a drive-by shooting Tuesday night on Tucson’s southeast side, officials say.
The unidentified agent is a deportation officer for ICE who was assigned to a federal Marshals Service task force, officials said.
Details about the circumstances of the shooting had not been released Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting happened about 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of East 29th Street and South Columbus Boulevard. The agent was shot in the arm and was treated at a hospital, the FBI Office in Phoenix said.
Officials continue to search for the shooter, who fled the scene, Yasmeen Pitts O’Keefe, of Homeland Security Investigations said Wednesday in a written statement.
Federal agencies are working with local law enforcement to find the gunman, O’Keefe said.
