D-M air show to slow traffic on Golf Links, Swan, Craycroft, 29th

Near the base, several travel restrictions apply.

Beginning at 6 a.m., westbound traffic on East Golf Links Road will be reduced to one lane between South Craycroft and South Swan roads.

At 2 p.m., Golf Links will be closed from Aviation Parkway to Wilmot Road. Southbound lanes on Swan and Craycroft will be closed from 29th Street to Golf Links. No left turns will be allowed from southbound Craycroft and Swan roads to 29th Street.

For those leaving D-M, eastbound travel on Golf Links and 29th Street will be closed at Swan Road.

The road closures and restrictions are expected to last until 6 p.m.

Sun Tran shuttles will help those attending to avoid parking gridlock at the air show.

Riders can park at one of three locations and ride the shuttle to the event. Round-trip fare is $2 for most people and $1 for seniors 65 and older or people with disabilities, ADA or Medicare cards. Children 5 and younger ride free.

Pick up the shuttles beginning at 8:30 at:

● Park Place Mall, southeast corner south of Park Place Drive.

● Pima Air and Space Museum, 6000 E. Valencia Road.

● El Pueblo Neighborhood Center, 101 W. Irvington Road.

Shuttles will run continuously until 2 p.m. The last shuttle will leave the base about 15 or 20 minutes after the show ends.

Riders should not bring restricted items on base, including backpacks, hydration packs, coolers, large purses, duffel bags, bicycles, balloons, scooters, skates, paint, fireworks, drugs, lawn chairs, water guns, alcohol, pets, uniforms on nonmilitary personnel and weapons of any kind. Only service animals will be allowed.

Prohibited items must be left in vehicles or amnesty boxes. Items placed in amnesty boxes will not be returned.
