A place unique to Tucson held a sale over the weekend featuring unique plants.
The Tucson Botanical Gardens, at 2150 N. Alvernon Way, attracted green-thumbed folks from all over the area interested in the atypical plants that the annual Weird Plant Sale had to offer. The event kicked off Friday evening with a members-only sale, then continued Saturday.
"We've been doing this since the late '90s," said Darlene Buhrow, the gardens' director of marketing and communications.
More than 20 vendors, including nurseries and artisans who create jewelry and crafts with a vegetation theme, participated in the sale. Plants for sale included varieties of Euphorbia and Haworthia, along with mutated cacti and desert plants.
"We probably get around 750 to 1,000 people over the course of the two days," said Buhrow. "Sometimes they're not here for the sale - they come just to see the gardens and take a look at the gift shop."
