Rotary Club honors 150 eighth-graders
On May 18, the Casas Adobes Rotary Club honored 150 outstanding eighth-graders from 15 Tucson-area schools, including several from the northwest side. It's the 21st year the club put on the program, which recognizes students for their leadership, character, scholarship and high personal presentation standards throughout the year.
The 150 students honored this year are eligible for several Rotary scholarships when they finish high school.
As part of this year's presentation, seven high school seniors who received honors in 2006 when they were eighth-graders received scholarships totaling more than $20,000 from the club.
Northwest-side high school scholarship winners are Linnet Hennkens of Canyon del Oro High School, Gabriella Gutierrez and Adam Sapnier of Marana High School, Estefani Aquire of Amphitheater High School, Kaycee Thompson of Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, Amanda Ehredt of Flowing Wells High School and Amanda Coldren of Ironwood Ridge High School.
