Letter: Wasting taxpayer money

The GOP legislature is opening an(other) investigation into the Sunshine issue, but it already has two active taxpayer-funded investigations, both of which have lasted years at this point with no indication of Gov. Hobbs’ involvement. How many hundreds of thousands (or millions) in taxpayer money is being spent to pay expensive private firms in the new “probe”?It’s starting to remind me of the $9 million they spent on the 2020 election “audit.” The House hired Missouri-based James Otis Law Group, but that firm’s rates aren’t posted anywhere. Andrew Gould, who was appointed special counsel for the Senate’s probe, works for one of the largest political law groups in the nation. His rates must also be sky-high. At what point do these guys consider how their stage show impacts taxpayers? If they’re going to put on a show, we deserve to know how many of our tax dollars they’re spending.
