Pima Animal Care Center is opening a new adoption-focused facility on Tucson’s east side, offering dozens of dogs and cats ready for new homes. Supporters say the center will make pet adoption more accessible while helping ease overcrowding at the county’s main animal shelter.

More than 100 dogs, including pugs, yorkies and other small breeds, were recently surrendered to Pima Animal Care Center after being found living in cramped conditions southwest of Tucson.
