Arizona football returned to the Davis Sports Center and Dick Tomey Practice Fields for the second spring football practice on Thursday.
After a short practice, here are a few notes and observations.
* Arizona redshirt junior wide receiver Tre Spivey, who's no stranger to highlight receptions, caught a deep over-the-shoulder pass from quarterback Noah Fifita down the left sideline with multiple defenders in coverage. After a seven-touchdown season, the 6-4, 213-pound Spivey looks like a sure-fire starter and a potential leading receiver for the Wildcats.
* The first defensive secondary used in a 7-on-7 segment featured cornerbacks Tyrese Boss and Johno Price, with Nebraska transfer Malcolm Hartzog at slot cornerback and strong safety Gavin Hunter and free safety Quinn Olson.
* Fifita threw a 60-yard touchdown pass over the middle to Colorado State transfer receiver Jordan Ross. In the same period, second-year receiver Isaiah Mizell caught a deep ball — despite smothering coverage — near the right sideline. The following play, USC transfer receiver DJ Jordan scored a touchdown on a deep ball over the middle.

* The first defensive line used in a team period (walk-through) featured edge rushers Tre Smith and Georgetown transfer Cooper Blomstrom, with Leroy Palu and Mays Pese at defensive tackle.
* Multiple members of the Sacramento State coaching staff attended Arizona's practice, including former UA defensive backs assistant coach Dakari Monroe, who's now a cornerbacks coach for the Hornets. The Sac State coaches are in Tucson for the UA coaches' clinic on Friday.
