LAS VEGAS — Cole Ford, a former NFL and Sabino High School kicker who has been hospitalized for mental illness, pleaded guilty Thursday to shooting at the home of entertainers Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn in 2004.
Ford, who last kicked for the Oakland Raiders in 1997, agreed to a felony plea that could result in a suspended sentence of one to six years in a Nevada prison, if he continues mental-health treatment at a center near his family's home in Tucson.
"We've come a long way with Mr. Ford, and he's doing terrific," Clark County District Judge Jackie Glass said as she addressed Ford's mother, Amy Ford, in the courtroom gallery.

The five-time Pro Bowl selection, who overcame health problems and a drug addiction during his 13 seasons, led the Jacksonville Jaguars with 70 catches for 1,023 yards and six touchdowns last season.

LAS VEGAS — Former WBC super welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga tested positive for a banned substance after losing his title Saturday to Oscar De La Hoya.
Mayorga could be fined by the Nevada Athletic Commission after traces of the diuretic Furosemide, also known as Lasix, were found in his system, commission lawyer Keith Kizer said Thursday.
