Tucson's oldest bachelor pad is up for sale.
The Owls Club, 378 N. Main Ave., is on the market for $2.1 million. The historic property was last sold in 2005 for a little more than $1.3 million.
Set in Downtown's El Presidio neighborhood, the Owls Club was designed by architect Henry Trost, who studied under Frank Lloyd Wright and also designed such local landmarks as the Steinfeld Mansion, the Santa Rita Hotel and Mansfeld Middle School.
Originally a club for Tucson's well-heeled bachelors, the Owls Club is probably best known for its elegant facade, which sports — surprise! — an owl and several columns marked by low-relief desert landscape.
The three-story club was built in 1901 and is 9,860 square feet. After falling into disrepair, it was remodeled and restored in 1986 by architecture firm Robert W. Boucher & Associates.

"It's the kind of property that will attract a lot of interest," said Buzz Isaacson, first vice president for CB Richard Ellis in Tucson. "With these small buildings, it's about fit. It's not a building that you will do an extensive remodeling on."
While the property has historical value, Isaacson said it's not immune to the downturn in Tucson's real estate market.
But he's hoping the club's unique history will lead to a quick sale.
"There aren't any properties (on the market) that would compete head to head with the Owls Club," he said. "Most of the Tucson office market has been built since 1980, and it is fun to deal with properties that have a rich story."
