Rhinestone cowboys and honky tonk angels who like to put on their tight fittin' jeans and boot scootin' boogie their way around the dance floor at the Cactus Moon nightclub will have to look elsewhere for friends in low places.
The urban saloon- a favorite midtown watering hole for redneck gals and long-haired country boys since 1989 - has closed.
An announcement was made to staffers Saturday night that the 11,800-square-foot bar in Williams Centre on the southwest corner of East Broadway and South Craycroft Road was closing.
Andy Seleznov, director of leasing for the property's managing partners, Larsen Baker, LLC, confirms the nightclub has closed, although the commercial real estate firm has not yet received formal notice.
"The business had been affected by the downturn in the economy," Seleznov said.

Calls to Cactus Moon on Tuesday went to voice mail. The club's website was operational Tuesday morning, but was taken down by early afternoon. Attempts by the Arizona Daily Star to contact the nightclub's owner and manager were unsuccessful.
Cactus Moon operated under the corporate name GBE of Tucson LLC. Davis Ryle is listed as the licensee with the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control. Ryle and a Texas company, TBCH of Odessa Inc., are listed as owners on the Arizona Corporation Commission website.
As for those good-hearted women and ramblin' men who may fall to pieces over closure of the Cactus Moon, they will have to ease their achy breaky hearts with suds in a bucket from another country-Western establishment.
Happy trails, Cactus Moon.
