Two Green Valley golf courses, San Ignacio Golf Club and Canoa Hills, have reopened as one under new management of a group including Tucson restaurateur Bob McMahon.
The two courses were closed in the fall when the prior management couldn't pay its water bills, which led to a cutoff of water and rendering the courses unplayable.
A partnership headed by McMahon and Green Valley developer David Williamson took over management of the courses from the prior manager, IRI Golf Group LLC, in October.
After the water was restored, the San Ignacio golf course reopened in early November and the adjacent Canoa Hills course reopened last Saturday as the San Ignacio North Course. The main San Ignacio layout is now known as the South Course.
"The golf course is green and in great shape," said Rich Elias, director of golf at San Ignacio and two other Green Valley courses owned by McMahon's partnership, Torres Blancas and Canoa Ranch.

The new management group paid off $90,000 in back water bills along with other debt and intends to buy the properties, Elias said, adding that negotiations are ongoing.
Elias said the Canoa Hills course was made part of San Ignacio to consolidate pro-shop and management operations, and to eliminate longtime confusion with nearby Canoa Ranch.
Some holes on the former Canoa Hills course have been renumbered to move the first and 18th tees near the clubhouse, Elias said.
Besides improvements to the courses, the new management freshened up the pro shop and fully renovated the kitchen of the main restaurant, now called The Grill at San Ignacio.
