E&S Engineering acquired by Swiss minerals firm
SGS has acquired Tucson-based E&S Engineering Solutions Inc., the parent company of Metcon Research & KD Engineering.
SGS, based in Geneva, with North American headquarters in New Jersey, "welcomes the highly skilled staff of these groups into the SGS Minerals Services network," it said in a news release this week.
The two operating groups will do business as SGS Metcon/KD Engineering going forward.
The companies provide metallurgical testing and process flow-sheet development, plant design, plant optimization and project engineering services to the non-ferrous mining industry.
E&S, which has been privately owned, employs 60 people and was expected to generate 2012 revenues of $9 million, SGS said.

Builders invite charities to seek repairs, renovations
The Arizona Builders' Alliance is accepting applications until Feb. 15 from Tucson charities in need of facility renovation and repair.
The ABA selects one needy charity each year to receive such volunteer services. The 2012 recipient was the homeless veterans transition center Esperanza en Escalante. More than 250 volunteers from 80-plus ABA member companies donated more than $100,000 in material and labor to renovate and repair the center.
Tucson-area 501(c)(3) charities can apply for Volunteer Day help at www.azbuilders.org online. Private and public schools are not eligible.

Allstate Insurance adding 28 new agency owners
Allstate Insurance Co. plans to appoint 28 new agency owners in Arizona in 2013.
The expansion effort is expected to create at least 60 new insurance jobs statewide, as new agents hire workers to support their agencies, Allstate said in a news release.
