Tucson-based medical software provider Sunquest Information Systems Inc. has agreed to an acquisition by Florida-based Roper Industries Inc. for $1.42 billion.
Sunquest provides a comprehensive line of medical laboratory software, such as barcode-based systems for managing blood collection and transfusion, used by more than 1,700 hospitals worldwide. The company has about 300 local employees.
Sunquest is owned by a group of investors resulting from a 2010 recapitalization, led by Huntsman Gay Global Capital in partnership with Vista Equity Partners, which has owned the company since 2007.
