What did you eat for dinner last night?
No, not you ... The experts! Last week, food writers from across the country got together at the University of Arizona for a conference on literary food writing. The daylong meeting was part of an effort to get Tucson listed as a worldwide city of gastronomy with the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. (We'll find out as early as Dec. 11 if we get it.)
Edible Baja Magazine worked with the UA Southwest Center and the city of Tucson to bring in authors from current UNESCO cities like Iowa City (City of Literature) and Santa Fe (City of Folk Arts.) Among the authors were a pioneer in journalistic food writing Betty Fussell and "Vegetable Literacy" author Deborah Madison.
