Tucson Mall goers have a new option at the food court.
Choice Greens Express, a smaller version of the design-your-own salad restaurant Choice Greens, opened at the mall last week.
The new outlet, 4500 N. Oracle Road, serves a slightly smaller menu than its two full-size counterparts, but still features the Tucson restaurants' made-to-order chopped salads.
"We wanted to give people another choice, no pun intended," said Paolo DeFilippis, who co-owns Choice Greens with Jeff and Fran Katz.
As with other Choice Greens locations, Express customers customize their own salads from a list of 40 ingredients which are then chopped and tossed in front of them, and 15 dressings.
For those who want something less leafy, the restaurant also makes baked macaroni and cheese.

It also sells predesigned salads if the mix-and-match concept proves too daunting.
Choice Greens opened in 2005 as Chopped at 2829 E. Speedway. It added another location at 4205 N. Campbell Ave. a year later. The restaurants changed their names to Choice Greens last year.
DeFilippis said he and the other owners would like to keep expanding the company, but there are no specific plans right now.
"We're going to take it one step at a time," DeFilippis said. "For now, I really hope people like the salad, to be honest with you."
New at the Mall
Choice Greens Express isn't the only thing new at Tucson Mall.
Cathy's Accessories, a Crocs shoe store, and Down East Basics, a women's and girls' clothing store, will also be added to the mall this year.
Several other stores have shuffled positions in the mall, taking over new, renovated locations. Radio Shack is now on the upper level near Sears. Game Daze, a specialty game store, is in a new location near the children's play area. Pacific Sunwear is moving into a new space on the upper level near Gloria Jean's Coffee.
