Dancing, one could say, is in her genes.
Colleen Kelly Beaman floated around the room as she led a weekly Tucson Oasis dance class at the Junior League building, 2099 E. River Road.
As the daughter of Fred Kelly and niece of Gene Kelly, she carries on the family tradition of dance by performing and teaching.
The Oasis class on two-step and polka includes regulars and newcomers.
"Once you get a two-step down, I can teach you anything," she tells students.
"It's a matter of everybody learning something," she said later, explaining that she wants people of any experience level to learn something from her classes.
Aside from teaching at Tucson Oasis, a chapter of a national organization for adults 50 and over dedicated to lifelong learning and service, Beaman teaches at Pima Community College and is active throughout the Tucson community and the United States.
