A former Florida pastor suspected in the 2011 disappearance and possible death of his girlfriend has been arrested in southern Arizona.
U.S. Marshals Service officials say 46-year-old James Ty Flanders was taken into custody Thursday at his home in Cochise, Arizona.
They say Flanders is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder. He's awaiting extradition to Florida.
Flanders was wanted by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office in Florida in the disappearance of 37-year-old Marie Carlson.
Authorities say Carlson was living with Flanders at his Fort Walton Beach home and was the mother of his newborn child when she went missing Oct. 17, 2011.
Carlson's ex-husband reported her missing after he received a cryptic cellphone text message.
