Turn off the carols. Those red and green socks — back in the drawer, please.
It grated my nerves to hear "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" in the grocery store on the day after Halloween.
What's the rush? Let's savor Thanksgiving and these last few days leading up to it.
Thanksgiving is not the warm-up act for the December holidays. It is a beloved holiday and the best holiday of the year, I believe.
There are so many things to enjoy about Thanksgiving, beginning with it is not Christmas. There are no gifts to buy, no expectations and few disappointments. It is just a wonderful day to gather with friends and family, eat, feel grateful, eat, enjoy each other's company and eat.

It's an inclusive, national holiday that's celebrated by those of most religions, or those of no religion. No one is offended with a cheerful "Happy Thanksgiving" greeting.
Thanksgiving bridges the differences in professions, political viewpoints and dispositions, as well as those in our community. Both Democrats and Republicans can agree to enjoy Thanksgiving.
It is a time to remember, share those memories and keep traditions. I love to serve cranberries in my grandmother's bowl. I remember how my father loved cranberry sauce and I imagine Thanksgivings when he was a little boy that cranberries were served in this cut glass bowl.
These last days before Thanksgiving, let's not rush the December holidays. Let's step off the hurry-up and get-it-done treadmills and enjoy Thanksgiving, the best holiday of the year and one of the best reasons to enjoy autumn.
The tinsel and lights can wait until next Saturday.
