An Arizona Department of Public Safety canine officer apprehended two shoplifters while attending to a non-injury hit-and-run in the area of North Oracle and West Wetmore Roads.
On Feb. 5 at about 5 p.m., a DPS canine officer arrived at a hit-and-run collision in the 4600 block of North Oracle Road, according to a news release.
The officer followed the oil trail left by the fleeing vehicle through the Babies-R-Us parking lot, when four employees ran out of the store, yelling that the store had been robbed.
The officer found the suspects heading west from State Route 77 on West Auto Mall Drive and ordered them to stop.
The suspects complied and were detained without incident, said DPS spokesman Quentin Mehr.
DPS officers turned the suspects over to the Tucson Police Department.
