A man was shot Tuesday afternoon while in a car traveling on South Sixth Avenue near Ajo Way, police said.
The shooting occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Sixth Avenue and Palmdale Street, said Officer Daniel Lucas, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
A man and a woman were in the vehicle that was shot at by people in another vehicle who were attempting to get them to roll down the windows to talk, Lucas said.
The vehicle with the victims continued traveling south on Sixth Avenue when they were fired upon near Palmdale Street. The vehicle continued traveling and ended up at South Liberty and West Michigan Street where they flagged down an officer, Lucas said.
The man was treated by Tucson Fire Department paramedics and taken to Banner-University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Lucas said.

The victim and the assailants know each other, said Lucas, explaining that the shooting was not a random act.
Aggravated assault detectives were investigating the crime.
