The Tucson Chapter of American Gold Star Mothers has been working to put together a Wreaths Across America wreath laying ceremony, here in Tucson. Their goal is to eventually be able to place a wreath on every veteran's grave for the holidays.
"We want to show honor and respect to all our servicemen and women who have kept America free," said Sheron Jones, president of the Tucson Chapter of American Gold Star Mothers.
The event will be December 10, starting at 9 a.m., with the actual wreath laying beginning at 10 a.m. The ceremony is to be held simultaneously at more than 570 locations around the world. This is the first time Tucson is participating in the event.
The public is encouraged to attend one of the three cemeteries, where wreaths will be laid; Evergreen, Holy Hope or East Lawn.
