The intersection of Ina and Shannon road is reopening today, July 9, at about 5 p.m., after it was closed since Friday due to damage from a microburst, transportation officials said.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department planned to reopen Ina (east and west) first and then Shannon (north and south).
Westbound Ina Road will continue to have lane restrictions in the curb lane so that Tucson Electric Power can complete underground work between Mona Lisa Road and Camino De La Tierra. This work will continue for 4 to 5 days, the county Transportation Department said.
The dry microburst hit about 3:40 p.m. Friday, resulting in at least 14 downed power poles at Ina and Shannon, according to TEP and the National Weather Service.
The falling poles in turn knocked down traffic lights, the weather service said.
