JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa will open Catalina Barbeque Co. and Sports Bar Friday in the space that originally housed the Catalina Steakhouse.
The steakhouse opened with the hotel in 2005, but in September changed to the Sports Bar and Grill.
A spokeswoman said the format is changing again because of the barbeque background of Starr Pass’ Executive Chef Chris Brown, whose arrival was announced in October.
The menu will feature entrees that range from $9 to $25 and include a pulled-pork barbeque tostada, brisket, smoked sausage and baby-back ribs.
The band Roadhouse will play from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. On Sunday, Brown will lead a barbeque class and lunch from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The $75 class will teach participants how to prepare and smoke meats at home.
