Tucson police shot and wounded an armed robbery suspect in a shootout Saturday morning at an east-side store, police said.
The suspect's injuries are not life-threatening, police said. No one else was injured.
The Tucson Police Department gave the following account in a news release:
A 9-1-1 call reported an armed robbery at Walmart Neighborhood Market, 8640 E. Broadway, at about 9:45 a.m. Saturday.
The suspect's description matched that of a suspect in an incident just before that, in which police were told he shot at an occupied apartment in a complex in the 8600 block of East Old Spanish Trail at about 9:40 a.m. No one was struck in that shooting.
Two uniformed Tucson police officers chased the suspect at the Walmart, ordered him to drop his weapon, and gunfire was exchanged.
