An armed man killed by Tucson police outside of a Walmart store Tuesday has been identified.
Colbe Kendrick, 26, was shot and killed at the rear of the Walmart on East 22nd Street at South Craycroft Road when he refused officers’ orders to drop a handgun, police spokeswoman Sgt. Maria Hawke said in a news release Wednesday.
There was no evidence Kendrick fired his gun, Hawke said.
Police were called just before 6 p.m. to assist bail bondsmen who had conducted surveillance on the fugitives throughout the day and followed them throughout Tucson.
Kendrick ran from the car when it stopped in the store parking lot. Police went to doors at the rear of the Walmart after security officers said Kendrick had run into the store.
Officer Jayson Thompson, a 12-year veteran of the Tucson Police Department, fired at Kendrick, when he refused to drop his handgun.

Kendrick died later at a hospital.
Two men and a woman in the car were all detained at the scene, at least two of them were also wanted felons, Hawke said.
Bail bondsmen occasionally call Tucson police for assistance, Hawke said.
Police officers were called in this case because the bondsmen confirmed the suspects were armed, she said.
Kendrick was wanted on felony warrants for drug offenses, Hawke said.
No other details were released by police Wednesday.
More information about Kendrick’s fugitive status was also not released.
According to Arizona Department of Corrections records, Kendrick served nearly two years in prison for a marijuana violation.
