Man pleads guilty in '08 fatal shooting
A Tucson man is facing between 10 and 22 years in prison after pleading guilty Thursday to second-degree murder in a November 2008 shooting.
Daniel Taddey admitted he shot Frank T. Gonzales and will be sentenced next month by Pima County Superior Court Judge Howard Hantman, said Deputy Pima County Attorney Mark Diebolt.
On Nov. 13, 2008, Tucson police received a call from a resident in the 700 block of East 35th Street saying a gunshot victim was knocking on the door.
Gonzales mentioned an "Eddie" and a "Danny" to police before being taken to the hospital, where he died, court documents indicate.
Ivan Chaparro-Garcia, Carlos Eduardo Taddey, Jose Taddey, Daniel Taddey, Gilbert Gonzalez and Gustavo Rodriguez were subsequently indicted in the case.
Chaparro-Garcia and Gonzalez both pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution. Chaparro-Garcia was sentenced to 3 1/2 years and Gonzalez is awaiting sentencing.
The case against Jose Taddey was dismissed after Gonzalez and Chaparro-Garcia said Jose Taddey wasn't there.
The cases against Carlos Eduardo Taddey and Rodriguez are pending.
