"I am bountiful, blissful and beautiful," sang instructor Monica King-Ellerby during a prenatal yoga class last week at RX-Yoga, 5655 E. Grant Road.
The alliterative chant was one of the mantras repeated during the class designed for pregnant women.
"The goal is to help women during labor and to help them connect with their baby," said King-Ellerby. "It's important for women to feel empowered and ready for motherhood."
King-Ellerby gives the participants tips about the different stages of pregnancy, getting through labor, and motherhood.
"A lot of women are called to yoga when they are pregnant," said King-Ellerby. "Women seek a practice that is focused inward because it's automatic when you are pregnant. It's an inward time and yoga allows for that."
The class doesn't concentrate on physical exercise but on the mind. It includes meditation, stretching, singing, chanting and dancing.

"I liked how she talked about the different challenges during the class and related them to labor," said participant Sammie Wolstenholme.
