Parents, business owners and other supporters of education in the Foothills plan to usher in the fall with an Oktoberfest fundraiser next Thursday.
Oktoberfest at Plaza Colonial is expected to draw more than 300 people, organizers said.
The event, which is sponsored by the Catalina Foothills School District Foundation, will be held at Plaza Colonial, 2870 E. Skyline Drive.
The organization raises money to help cover shortfalls in funding, foundation president Mark Kipphut said.
"As stakeholders in a strong public education system, the entire community benefits from the levels of excellence our schools post each and every year," Kipphut said.
Proceeds from the event will go toward funding teaching positions, said Kim Kimbriel, who sits on the foundation's board of directors.

"This is an important event for the Foothills community because it benefits education," she said. "A lot of our supporters are business owners who also are parents in the district."
The event will include an auction, live music, German beer and traditional Bavarian treats.
Many of the businesses at Plaza Colonial are donating gift certificates and merchandise for the auction, Kimbriel said.
