PHOENIX — Phoenix police say a man seen pushing a shopping cart containing a blanket-wrapped dead body has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police said Wednesday that 26-year-old Rudy Soriano was taken into custody without incident Wednesday. Detectives still have not determined a motive in the slaying.
The body of 32-year-old Rodolpho Yurralde was found March 13 outside a west Phoenix apartment complex.
Investigators say evidence seized from Soriano’s residence matched him to witness accounts of the previously-unidentified man they saw pushing the wrapped-up body in the shopping cart. Residents of the apartment complex say they saw the cart tip over, revealing the corpse.
Authorities say Soriano was released in June from an Arizona prison after serving three years of a four-year sentence for aggravated assault and auto theft.
