In her March 2 Star review of Nick Pintozzi's book "Ricigliano: the Sequel to 'Remember Love's Smile,'" Helene Woodhams quotes the author, who writes in Italian, "La Famiglia e tutto," (The family is everything.)
Yes, family, both biological and chosen, can be one of the most beautiful aspects of our lives, offering support, encouragement and unconditional love. Special ties braid tightly together our history and experience.
But family is far from everything, regardless of circumstances. There is so much more to appreciate. Number one is good health. The blessings of sound mind, body and spirit enable folks to do not only for themselves but also for others.
Friends give a boost to our self-esteem. They also make us better people with their honest insights.
And satisfying work keeps us grounded and rewarded emotionally during life's ups and downs. Extra dollars to deposit in the bank are another big plus.
