OMAHA, Neb. – Arizona's College World Series game against Oklahoma State is slated to start at 6:25 p.m., Tucson time, after a lengthy weather delay.
The game was supposed to begin at 4:04, so the delay will be two hours and 21 minutes. Lightning in the area caused the delay. It has rained only intermittently.
Junior right-hander Bobby Dalbec will start for the Wildcats once the game gets underway.
Dalbec pitched 8 2/3 shutout innings in the UA’s 1-0 victory over Mississippi State in the Starkville Super Regional on June 10. Dalbec, taken by the Boston Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB draft as a third baseman, has a 10-4 record with a 2.92 ERA.
Dalbec spent most of the regular season as a reliever, accumulating a team-high seven saves. But he started in the Lafayette Regional, against Sam Houston State, and again in the Super Regional, winning both games.

The loser will face UC Santa Barbara, which eliminated No. 3 seed Miami by a score of 5-3 in a game earlier Monday that also was delayed by rain. The winner will be off until Friday and will face the winner of Wednesday’s elimination game.
