The JET isn't leaving Tucson anytime soon.
Former Arizona Wildcats standout Jason Terry will remain on the UA's staff under new head coach Tommy Lloyd, the program announced Wednesday.
Terry, 43, joins associate head coach Jack Murphy as assistants retained under Lloyd. Terry is under contract through next April, a deal that pays him $280,000 annually. Terry joined former coach Sean Miller's staff last year.
Lloyd hinted at the possibility of keeping Terry and Murphy during his introductory press conference, when he said "it's very important to have Arizona ties on my staff."
"You're definitely going to see some Arizona flavor, for sure," Lloyd said.
Terry had a hand in bringing graduate transfer guard Terrell Brown, his godson, from Seattle U in his first year. Terry's Pacific Northwest roots could help Arizona on the recruiting trail — especially in Seattle, which has recently been a hotbed of talent. The Wildcats signed four-star Seattle guard Shane Nowell, brother of former Pac-12 Player of the Year Jaylen Nowell, for their 2021 recruiting class. Keeping Terry could help the Wildcats' chances of re-recruiting Nowell to the UA.

Terry helped Arizona win the program's only national championship as a sophomore in 1997, and was the Pac-10 Player of the Year in '99 after averaging 21.9 points, 5.5 assists and 2.8 steals per game. He then played 19 seasons in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.
Terry's No. 31 jersey is retired by Arizona and hangs inside McKale Center.
