Tucson to Turin: Locals sound off about their connections to the Winter Olympics.
Names: Jim and Diane Hicks
Ages: Both 72
Years married: 52
Connection: Their son, NBC sports broadcaster Dan Hicks, is covering the Olympics from Turin. He has reported on the games for NBC since 1992, said his father.
Dan Hicks bio: The 43-year-old was born in Tucson in 1962, graduated from Sabino High School and the University of Arizona. He worked at radio station KCEE, then as a sports anchor at Channel 4 before setting off to Atlanta for a job at CNN.
"He got in his little truck and drove away," Jim Hicks said.

Road to fame: CNN led the local boy to NBC, where he currently covers sports like golf. The youngest of three children, Dan had a passion for athletics growing up.
"He realized early on if he was going to stay with sports for any length of time, his best chance was in the media," Jim Hicks said.
Call them Dannah: Dan Hicks is married to CBS News' anchor Hannah Storm. They have three daughters and live in Connecticut. Diane Hicks said since her son and Storm live on the other side of the country, it's nice to check up on them via national television to "see how they look."
Proudest parental moments: For Jim Hicks, a couple stand out: One, when Dan Hicks got the CNN job and, two, his son's early career drive. "He used to pretend in his room he was announcing," Diane Hicks said. "He knew that's what he was going to do."
Get back: Starting next year, Dan Hicks could visit home more. The Old Pueblo will likely play host to the PGA's WCG Accenture World Match Play Championship and NBC should be here to cover the strokes of players like Tiger Woods.
Acquired taste: Jim and Diane Hicks said though they now mostly enjoy watching all the sports their son covers for NBC, it wasn't immediate.
"I would not have watched golf as much, that's for sure," Diane Hicks said.
"It makes it more interesting if you feel like you've got a tie to what's happening," Jim Hicks said.
