INDIANAPOLIS — Dakari Johnson scored 11 points, Andrew Harrison had 10 and No. 1 Kentucky used a dominant defense to blow out No. 5 Kansas 72-40 in Tuesday’s State Farm Champions Classic.
Offensively, the Wildcats (3-0) were off, shooting just 43.1 percent. Yet a stingy defense never gave the Jayhawks (1-1) a chance.
Kansas was led Wayne Selden Jr. with nine points and Cliff Alexander with eight on a night and shot just 19.6 percent from the field. They were 15 of 27 from the free-throw line and finished with their lowest point total since a 61-45 loss to Kentucky in 1998.
The Wildcats led by as much as 35-17 in the first half. After Kansas closed to 38-28 at the half, Kentucky opened the second half with six straight points.
No. 4 Duke 81, No. 19 Michigan State 71: In Indianapolis, Quinn Cook scored 19 points and Jahlil Okafor had 17 to lead the Blue Devils in the State Farm Champions Classic.

The Blue Devils (3-0) have won each game this season by double digits. Michigan State was led by Brendan Dawson with 18 points.
No. 9 Virginia 75, South Carolina State 55: In Charlottesville, Va., Malcolm Brogdon and Justin Anderson scored 17 points each and Virginia (3-0) closed the first half on a 22-6 run in its win.
No. 11 Wichita State 71, Memphis State 56: In Sioux Falls, S.D., Ron Baker scored 21 points to help the Shockers run their regular-season win streak to 33 games.
No. 15 Virginia Commonwealth 87, Toledo 78: In Richmond, Va., VCU (2-0) pulled away in the final three minutes to win.
No. 16 San Diego State 53, No. 25 Utah 49: In San Diego, JJ O’Brien had a strong second half and finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, helping the Aztecs (2-0) win.
O’Brien, who played for Utah as a freshman, had no points and three rebounds in the first half, and SDSU trailed 18-17 at the break.
Former Arizona Wildcat Angelo Chol scored six points during a 9-0 run that put the Aztecs ahead for good midway through the second half. He finished with eight points.
The teams combined for 18 points in the final 46.8 seconds.
Brandon Taylor led Utah with just nine points.
No. 20 Ohio State 74, Marquette 63: In Columbus, Ohio, Kam Williams scored 15 points to lead Ohio State (2-0).
No. 21 Nebraska 82, Central Arkansas 56: In Lincoln, Neb., Terran Petteway scored 23 points and Nebraska (2-0) shook off a sloppy first half ,
Oregon State 86, Corban 62: In Corvallis, Ore., Langston Morris-Walker and Gary Payton II each scored 16 for the Beavers.
