Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a fractured jaw, according to a report on the club's web site.
The former UA standout suffered the injury while home in California; the report said he was "horsing around" with his older brother Drew, a former UCLA and New Mexico player who has spent time in the NBA, when the injury occurred. (Read more here).
Gordon should return in time for the team's opener in October, the story said. His timeframe will depend on how he responds to rehabilitation.
Gordon, 19, is viewed as a key to the Magic's chances this season. The second-year pro led the NBA's Orlando Summer Pro League in points and rebounds earlier this summer. Team officials were particularly impressed with his shooting; he hit half of his shot attempts — 24 of 48 from the field and 6 of 12 from the three-point line — during the showcase.
