The Arizona Wildcats women’s basketball team led from wire to wire Tuesday, cruising to a 61-34 victory over UC-Santa Barbara in front of a school-record crowd of 6,268 at McKale Center.
Arizona (1-2) held the Gauchos (0-5) to 22.9 percent shooting (11 of 48). The 11 field goals tied for the fewest by any UA opponent. The Wildcats also held Cal State-
Fullerton to 11 field goals on Dec. 8, 1995.
Senior guard Candice Warthen led the Cats in scoring, making 5 of 9 shots for a game-high 15 points, and she made all three of her three-point attempts.
Sophomore forward LaBritt-ney Jones scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and freshman forward Dejza James provided a spark off the bench, collecting a game-high 11 rebounds and adding five points.
Senior forward Alli Gloyd had seven points and seven rebounds.

Clair Watkins and Jasmine Ware each scored eight points to lead UC-Santa Barbara in scoring. Watkins also led UCSB in rebounds with seven.
Arizona dominated inside all day, outscoring the Gauchos 26-6 in the paint and winning the second–chance points battle 17-2.
Arizona jumped out to a quick 18-8 lead with 7:52 remaining in the first half, after Warthen connected on the first of her game-high three treys from the left side.
Arizona extended its advantage to 15 in the first half. Warthen hit a three-pointer right before halftime to give the Cats a 29-14 lead.
Arizona held UCSB to two field goals over the first 13:06 of the second half.
