Arizona has lost an assistant to the pros.
Andrew Weidinger left the UA football program last week to accept a scouting job with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons. Weidinger's last day was Friday.
Weidinger, 24, spent less than six months as the Wildcats' recruiting coordinator after being named to the job in January. He was promoted when Dan Berezowitz left for the University of Minnesota.
Weidinger was the in-house connection to former coach Dick Tomey. Weidinger worked for Tomey as an office assistant in 2000. He stayed through the John Mackovic era and became a graduate assistant when Mike Stoops took over before the 2004 season.
Weidinger is already familiar with the Falcons organization. He interned with the team's scouting department last summer, focusing on free agent signees and special teams play before returning to the UA for the 2006 season.
