While you consider that July 4th picnic, you might want to make plans to enjoy the special programming networks have slated.
Ken Burns’ “The American Revolution” premiered last year, but it’s streaming on PBS and should set the stage for the celebrations that’ll unfold between now and the Fourth.
The History Channel also has “History Honors 250” programs that offer more perspective.
Closer to the holiday, Disney’s channels will air its brand of patriotic programming before the June 29 premiere of “Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness.” Then, July 3 and 4, anchor David Muir will host a big broadcast that will stop in all corners of the country. The 24-hour production (whew!) should put a positive spin on the red, white and blue.

On NBC, broadcasters will highlight the “Sail4th 250” maritime extravaganza in New York Harbor. The six-hour broadcast airs July 4.
That night, CBS will cover the “largest fireworks show in history.”
Fox will highlight stories from around the country (shades of New Year’s Eve) throughout the holiday weekend.
While President Trump has canceled his concert series, he’ll host a “rally to end all rallies” and lead the country’s “State Fair” celebration. Lee Greenwood, whose “God Bless the USA” has been played at other rallies, will perform.
And then? There are likely parades, concerts and fireworks displays that will get attention in every corner of the country.
We can hardly wait for the fun to begin.
