After leading Westtown to the Pennsylvania Independent School title with 34 points in the semifinals and 25 in the championship game, Randolph was named the team’s MVP on Wednesday night.
Considering one of his Westtown teammates is unsigned five-star big man Mohamed Bamba, that says something.
“He’s really exploded in his shooting, defense and overall intensity,” Westtown coach Seth Berger told the Star. “He was a different player at the beginning and end of the season.”
Randolph wound up averaging about 19 points, five rebounds and three assists this season, continuing his rapid rise in stature late in his high school career.
Berger said Randolph entered in 2015-16 as a reclassified junior who was only receiving low-major recruiting interest but attracted a number of elite offers by the end of last season. (He’s now considered a fifth-year senior and thus ineligible for the McDonald’s All-American Game).

At the same time, Berger said, he’s also been a good student in Westtown’s rigorous college prep academic program, which typically requires 3-4 hours of study per night.
