A mega-screened IMAX theater opened Friday in Tucson.
IMAX reformatted one of the auditoriums at AMC Loews Foothills, eliminating the front several rows of seats and adding a larger and slightly curved screen that stretches from wall to wall.
IMAX also installed a dual-projector system to show a larger, brighter and sharper picture than you'll see in regular theaters, as well as an improved sound system.
The new IMAX screen is playing "Inception: The IMAX Experience" this weekend. Daily weekend showtimes are 11:40 a.m. and 3:15, 7:15 and 10:25 p.m.
The theater is part of the Foothills Mall, 7401 N. La Cholla Blvd. AMC adds a $4 surcharge to IMAX screenings.
Including the surcharge, weekend pricing for IMAX screenings is $9.25 before noon, or $12 between noon and 4 p.m. through Monday. Shows after 4 p.m. are $14.50.
