A Tucson nurse practitioner might have thought it was an April Fools’ Day joke when she was told she won more than a half-million dollars.
Tucson Medical Center raffle director Kathy Rice notified the grand prize winners Wednesday of the hospital’s third annual Mega Raffle, the net proceeds of which benefit the medical center and its programs.
“I had more than a few people asking if my calling was a joke,” Rice said.
Cheryl Thomas-Stahl, a nurse practitioner and neonatal specialist at a Tucson medical group, won the No. 1 grand prize, which was either an A.F. Sterling home or $600,000 in cash. She chose the cash option.
Oro Valley native and hair studio owner Briana Koroscil won the No. 2 grand prize — a Newmar Bay Star motor home or $150,000 in cash. Koroscil also chose the cash option.
