One can only imagine what it must have been like to be trapped in a World Trade Center elevator on Sept. 11, 2001.
Playwright Patrick Carson has imagined that. The result is his play, "Elevator," based on actual events of the day. He has adapted the play from his film script of the same name.
It will receive its stage debut next week at the Proscenium Theatre on the Pima Community College West Campus, 2202 W. Anklam Road.
The story centers on six people trapped in the elevator that day.
"The play begins a few minutes before the first plane hits the first tower and propels forward," said a news release. "It examines the American spirit and inherent hope and compassion that resides in all of us."
Carson directs and the cast includes David Updegraff as Jeffrey Cage; Bob Kovitz as Bartholomew Kerstin; Kathleen Cannon as Tina Adena; Babe McGuire as Edie Collins; Robyn Austin as Erina Eman, and Scott Burg as Sidney Collier.
