You could drive throughout Tucson to check out some of the Old Pueblo’s most popular bands.
Or, you could lace up your running and walking shoes, and head downtown for the TMC Meet Me Downtown Memorial Day Weekend: Friday Night Festival of Miles and Saturday Night 5K.
“We added more bands to highlight how Tucson is a great art community, with such a vibrant local music scene,” said Randy Accetta, who with his wife, Tia, launched the 5K a decade ago to promote downtown. “Our whole goal is to celebrate what is great about Tucson, and our local music scene is one of those things.”
- Friday, May 27, is the Festival of Miles — a new event that pits teams of runners in a variety of categories —there’s even a tutu-wearing division. Races start at 6 p.m. A free FitKidz Children’s Mile starts at 6:30 p.m. and there’s free entry to Children’s Museum Tucson for families, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
- The TMC Meet Me Downtown Run and Walk 5K on Saturday, May 28, is being billed as Tucson’s largest running event as well as a city-wide block party with highlights that include a beer garden, stiltwalkers from Cirque Roots, the fourth annual Running Race Food Truck Round Up, and an after-party on the patio of Hotel Congress.
