The large American flag at the Hoover Dam, hung for America 250, has been temporarily removed for repairs.
The 150-foot-by-300-foot American flag that hangs on the south-facing side of the dam was removed the evening of Tuesday, according to the Bureau of Reclamation. The flag needs repairs due to a large rip along the red-and-white stripe section.
Despite the lowering of the flag, the patriotic lighting display held at the dam each evening will continue through July 4. A large red, white and blue LED display illuminates the dam's south-facing side in celebration of America 250.

When will the American flag return to Hoover Dam?
As of Wednesday, the Bureau of Reclamation did not have an estimate for when the repairs would be complete.
Largely, the removal of the American flag has received responses of support, with many looking forward to the flag's return.
