Mango International won our heart earlier with the Ring Thing, a bottle-opener that doubles as jewelry. So we were receptive when their marketing guy sent a water-powered clock.
The clock runs on electrical current created from water poured into the revolutionary battery, slightly smaller than a double-A. You remove the battery from the clock, twist open the tiny capsule, pour in a little tap water and presto. It's a cool gift for guys who like gadgets.
One caveat: The company says the clock can run for a couple of months on one pour. Ours ran down after a month, but that could be because this office has the humidity level of the Mojave Desert. No big deal; it's just water, and the clock holds enough of a charge to maintain its settings while you fetch liquid. The temperature, timer, alarm and standard clock are accessed by rotating the clock to one of four standing positions. Battery life should be at least two years, Mango says.
