A 27-year-old man shot during an altercation Sunday afternoon at a south-side motel has died.
David Rodriguez, and a woman were shot at the Rodeway Inn, 1031 E. Benson Highway, shortly after 2 p.m., said Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.
Both victims were taken to a hospital.
Initial reports were that two groups of people were involved in an altercation in the northside parking lot. Several gunshots were fired and the victims were each struck once, Hawke said.
Detectives do not know the motive, or the suspects involved in the shooting, Hawke said.
A vehicle collided with one of the motel’s buildings causing possible structural damage, Hawke said.
Two occupants were evacuated from rooms in the northern building as a precautionary measure, said Hawke.
