The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Northeastern Pima County, including parts of Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana and Seven Falls.
Also, a thunderstorm developing over the metro area of Tucson could produce heavy rainfall.
The weather service warns that washes could quickly fill with water and advises drivers to avoid any wash or street where the roadway is not visible.
Storms were already hitting the East Side late this afternoon, with reports of power lines down in the area of Prudence and Escalante.
The Pima County Flood Control District reported these rainfall amounts in the past hour:
-- 1.22 inches on Samaniego Peak and 0.31 inches on Mount Lemmon, both in the Santa Catalina mountains.
-- 0.55 inches at Kolb and Golf Links roads.
