A double homicide that left a Midtown couple dead Saturday night as well as the death of a man who was found with gunshot wounds Sunday morning remain under investigation by the Tucson Police Department Monday.
Police say the two incidents aren’t related.
No suspects have been identified in the double slaying, but investigators do not believe it was a random act of violence, said TPD Spokesman Sgt. Fabian Pacheco. Evidence found by police in the home where the slayings occurred pointed to a drug connection, but Pacheco couldn’t release any more specific information about the motive citing the ongoing investigation.
On Saturday night, husband and wife Quinterious Straughter, 27, and Aries Straughter, 26, were found dead in their home in the 3200 block of East Willard Street, near East Speedway and North Country Club Road, at about 7:15 p.m.

Neighbors had reported yelling and the sound of glass breaking, followed by a woman yelling that "they're all dead inside," Pacheco said.
The woman, whose name was not released, was the sister of Aries Straughter, police officials said. When police arrived at the house, they met the sister, who said she came to the house to check on Aries Straughter because she hadn't heard from her in several days.
Pacheco said he couldn’t say how long the couple had been dead pending the results of an autopsy. It’s unclear how many suspects may have been involved in the slaying.
Police are also investigating the death of a man who was found Sunday morning near East Irvington Road and South First Avenue. Police said the man had gunshot wounds and the death is being treated as a homicide.
The man had been identified by police on Sunday night but investigators were withholding his name until his relatives could be notified, said Officer Dallas Wilson, a police spokesman. Anyone with information about these slayings should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
