Know a student who's a resident of Pima County who loves to draw, paint or write stories?
Are you that young person?
Then grab your pencils, charcoal, paints or pen. (We jest. Writers will probably use a computer.)
The Tucson Festival of Books has announced its Young Author and Artist Contests for pre-K through 12th grade students. The deadline is Dec. 18.
That sounds like it's a long way away, but it will come up faster than you may think.
There are prizes. Winning entries will receive $100 gift certificates; artists will receive a poster identifying all finalists within age range and authors will have their story published in a special book including all winning stories.

The contests are supported by Altrusa International, Inc. of Tucson and Friends of Western Art.
