The hack of the Ashley Madison website — which aims to help its married customers arrange affairs — revealed thousands of clients in Tucson.
An analysis of credit card information leaked by hackers and posted to the web found approximately 2,100 users from Tucson. The hack contained customers’ names, e-mail addresses and billing information. It did not include full credit-card numbers.
While the site is free to join, those who wanted to contact other users are charged a fee — starting at $49.
The site also offers a money-back “affair guarantee” if a customer fails to have a liason within three months.
One Tucsonan, whose name was apparently intended to be a Spanish-language version of the cartoon character Homer Simpson, apparently paid the site $25,000 for services.
